URPoint Details
Two lovely little villages on the banks of the Great Ouse make up the parish, which extends east from St Ives along the north bank of the Great Ouse.
Holywell, to the south of the main road, takes its name from a spring in the churchyard. The church itself has a tower built in the 16th century with stones from Ramsey Abbey.
This pretty village with a row of timbered cottages flanks the Great Ouse and at the beginning of the retaining banks built as a flood relief is The 'Old Ferry Boat Inn' a popular eating venue serving good bar meals. The age of the inn is unknown but it appears that a building has stood on this site since the 10th century.
Needingworth extends along the St Ives to Ely road and was largely rebuilt after a major fire in 1847 the only house left of an earlier period is The Chestnuts which dates from 1710.
A pleasant social venue here is The Queen's Head,a traditional village pub.
