The town has some fine buildings including Home Place and Letheringsett Hall, a mile west has been the home to the Hardy’s since the late 1700's.
Sir Thomas Gresham, born in 1519 founded the Royal Exchange in London and the famous Gresham School. Fire destroyed much of the town and St Andrew's church in 1708. The church was restored in 1864 by the Victorian architect Butterfield.
