Visitors should consider access to the Castle according to their individual needs; it is not possible for visitors to use motorised wheelchairs or mobility scooters inside the Courtyard or Castle; wheelchairs cannot be taken up staircases inside the Castle. There are three floors to view in the Castle. The ground floor is arranged on one level, and is the only floor suitable for wheelchair use.
This romantic 13th century moated Tudor castle was once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn.
Originally a fortified farmhouse it was transformed into a crenellated manor house early in the 15th century.
After the fall of the Boleyn family the house fell into disrepair and once again became a farmhouse.
It was bought by the wealthy American William Waldorf Astor who with an army of workmen modernised it building a village in Tudor style as extensions to the main house
The spectacular grounds include Italian and Rose gardens, a maze with more then 1000 yew trees, topiary and a 35 acre lake.
