In the 13th century Helston was a port and is now a typical Cornish town built of granite and slate. A maze of narrow roads and alleys lined with quaint old shops and houses.
The Church of St Michael was built in the latter part of the 18th century. The west tower has obelisk pinnacles, and inside the church is a gallery on iron columns.
