In Cade Street is a monument to Jack Cade who in 1450 a rebel leader was killed by Alexander Iden, Sheriff of Kent.
Another monument is the sandstone Gibraltar Tower stands in 400 acres of parkland of Heathfield Park who took its name from the governor who commanded the fort at Gibraltar, between 1779 and 1783.
