A cluster of greystone buildings on the upper reaches of the lovely River Rye.
The little Norman church has some interesting carvings round the north doorway is a mile and a half west of the village, shaded by trees on the river bank. The lane continues northwest through quiet woods ending at Arden Hall built on the site of a Benedictine nunnery.
