This is the typical English village with its moat complete with ducks, church, pub and resident lord of the manor. It is also a lovely Suffolk village with pretty rendered and painted old houses, some thatched. The village duck pond was once part of the moat surrounding the motte and bailey wooden castle, which in its time was one of the most important in East Anglia.
