URPoint Details

An interesting village with historical associations to Robin Hood and the Eyre family, is situated on a hillside of the Derwent Valley with spectacular views, is sheltered by the long, low cliffs of Millstone Edge to the southeast and Stange Edge to the north.

On a knoll there is an earthwork called Camp Green, which is probably Danish in origin.

The church of St Michael dates from 1381 and enlarged in the 15th century and in the churchyard is the 14ft long Little John’s grave, companion to Robin Hood.

The 18th century vicarage is where "Jane Eyre" walked the corridors of "North Lees Hall".
