Hatfield Broad Oak - Church of St Mary the Virgin

The church of St Mary the Virgin dates from the 12th century and was originally part of a Benedictine Priory founded by Aubrey de Vere in 1135. Mainly 15th century with later addition and has a fine 18th century panelling in the chancel. There is a wonderful candelabra, box pews with doors, a 14th century chest and stone effigy of Robert de Vere.
