The Church of St Mary, (Churches Conservation Trust), on a hill south of the present village, was displaced as the parish church in 1870. The nave and chancel date from the 13th century, north and south transepts were added early in the 19th century and the flint tower built in 1842. Early 19th century box-pews and galleries fill the charming interior and the chancel fittings are earlier.
