It took only three years to build this gigantic structure to carry the Kettering to Oakham railway line. Begun in 1875, its 82 classically proportioned arches span three quarters of a mile long across the wetlands of the Welland Valley.
It has been calculated that its 20 million red and blue locally made bricks, if placed to make a pathway 5\'3 wide would stretch the 200 miles from London to York! The complete structure can best be appreciated by viewing from the Gretton road."
