The 14th century church of St Mary is built of Totternhoe stone, (known as clunch) contains a window and altar dedicated to Bunyan. The altar is made from branches of an ancient tree pulpit "Bunyan's Oak" which still can be seen standing starkly in a field east of the village. The Parish chest has three locks and a chair dated 1601. There are five bells inscribed "coom coom and praie" and the clock was made by Thomas Russell of Wootton. Ralph Pyrot gave the church to Dunstable Priory in 1180, and it was valued at £10 in 1291. Grade I listed church
