URPoint Details
The castle is designed on a concentric plan and built between 1283 and 1289 for King Edward I.
Seized by Owain Glyndwr in 1404 and held successfully by him for four years.
Built on a projecting rocky spur it occupies a highly strategic position.
The inner ward is entered by an imposing gatehouse.
The view of Snowdonia from the battlements is very impressive, but finer still from the summit of Moel Senigi at 1,019ft.
