The last stopping place for pilgrims following the ancient ‘Pilgrims’ Way’ to Canterbury, and from here there are fine views of the city. A leper’s hospital founded here in 1084, rebuilt in 1674 the rebuilt as almshouses.
The church is mainly Norman and has some fine medieval benches.
