Haisbro", as it is pronounced is split in two, Upper Happisburgh where the church is and Lower Happisburgh which runs into Eccles another holiday village.
The famous red and white striped lighthouse built in 1791 is now privately owned and run by a trust.
Hill House, a lovely Tudor house next to the church is where Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote The Dancing Men, from a window overlooking the beautiful golden sands. The self contained double room was built as a Victorian signal box, but there has never been a railway here. Very popular pub offering excellent meals, attractive beer garden, and where children are welcome.
