The most notable landmark Hamilton has to offer is that of the Mausoleum of Alexander, 10th Duke of Hamilton, who lies beneath the dome of the black marble sarcophagus.
South of town is the ruined 12th century Cadzow Castle which overlooks the River Avon where Robert Bruce resided till 1309. It then passed onto the Hamilton’s and Mary, Queen of Scots stayed here in 1568.
Another interesting building is Chatelherault Lodge built in 1732 by William Adam who also designed the parish church. Netherton Cross a Celtic stone cross dating from the 6th century sits opposite the church.
