URPoint Details
The Church of St Mary the Virgin dates from the 14th century and has been described as a miniature cathedral.
The tower was rebuilt in 1721 has a fascinating panel, believed to have been the bed-head of Cardinal Wolsey and carrying the cardinal’s hat and Wolsey arms.
The Norman font and the chancel have beautiful carvings an there is a decorated piscina and sedilia.
There are many interesting brasses on the walls and in the north transept is a lovely monument of Sir Cope Doyley and his wife and 10 children.
