Edmond Halley FRS born 8 November 1656, Haggerston in Shoreditch was an English astronomer geophysicist, mathematician, meteorologist, and physicist who is best known for calculating the orbit of Halley’s Comet.
He was Astronomer Royal from 1721, a position Halley held until his death on 14 January 1742 at the age of 85 in Greenwich, London
