URPoint Details
There are some notable buildings of interest including the Piece Hall built in 1770, the Wainhouse Tower has a 253ft octagonal original dye works chimney, and Shibden Hall a 15th century mansion now the Folk Museum.
The Perpendicular parish church has a splendid tower and has a curious life-size figure, known as Old Tristram, holding an alms box.
Part of the original gibbet, the platform on which the first execution took place in 1286 has been preserved in Gibbet St.
