The Church of St Mary is mainly Perpendicular with many Victorian additions on the site of the original Anglo-Saxon site.
Beneath the piscina on the south wall are the famous ‘Danestones’ discovered during the alterations of 1889 and have been dated as being 9th century and probably formed part of the original church.
On the wall by the north door a tablet commemorates the association with Halesworth of Sir William and Sir Joseph Hooker, Directors of Kew Gardens and their Wedgwood portraits can be seen in the vestry.
