The 14th century church St Mary's is built on older foundations.Thomas A'Wall, a rich member of Salters Company, not only extended his father's house, in the 15th century he paid for the Lady Chapel to be built at St Mary's. His merchant's mark and the badges of the City of London and the Salters' Company are carved on its crenellations. The church is floodlit every night.
