URPoint Details
Not as it name suggests a burial ground, but the site of 4000 year old flint mines. The approach road to the grass covered hollows is amongst pine and fir trees. One of the mine shafts is open for inspection, and is well worth the climb down the 30ft ladder to witness how miners crawled on their hands and knees with picks made from antlers to chip out the flint for tools and weapons.
There are over 300 worked pits covering about 35 acres and is an amazing prehistoric site and the area surrounding the site is steeped in history.
