Situated on the lovely Loch na Keal with a remarkable range of lofty cliffs, below which lies the Salen road to Loch Scridan.
Offshore is the island of Inch Kenneth and farther out are the islands of Ulva, Gometra, Little Colonsay and Staffa.
To the east Ben More rises to 3,169ft, the monarch of the island.
Mackinnon's Cave is a huge cavern situated on the west coast of the island near Gribun.
