URPoint Details
This hillside stone village overlooks the Welland Valley.
The 18th century stocks and whipping post are in a prominent position on the village green.
Opposite is the Church of St James, the early part dating from the 13th century.
There are several houses of note, one with an arch from Kirby Hall incorporated in the west wall.
To the north of Corby and again commanding views across the Welland Valley, the lovely village boasts a number of houses dating from the Tudor period, many of them with mullioned windows and roofed with Collyweston slates.
The parish church of St James has been enlarged several times since the original Norman work and has a number of fine features.
In the southern part of Gretton parish is Kirby Hall, a building of architectural importance and well worth a visit.
