Greensted Church of St Andrew is open 9am to dark
The church is the oldest wooden Saxon church in the world dating from 1013. The walls are of solid oak and the nave is built of split oak logs. The 16th century dormer window, porch and chancel, and the wooden tower has a small shingle spire make this a very worthwhile church to stop and visit. There has been at least one church service held here for over 1300 years! The Grade I listed building lies about a mile west of Chipping Ongar town centre. Its full title is The Church of St Andrew, Greensted-juxta-Ongar
