Great Waltham The interesting church of St Mary and St Lawrence has Norman work using both Norman and Roman bricks. The tower windows, door and font bowl are all Norman. The hammerbeam roof carves with angels is nearly 500 years old, some of the pews date from 1420 and are among the oldest in the country. Of the eight bells one is dated 1336 and the last dated 1769.
