The church of St Lawrence is 14th century.
Alterations have been made over the centuries, but none so great as on the return of the current rector returned from visiting the Holy Land. He and his sisters brought back a mosaic of marble fragments from Rome now in the chancel, and granite from Mount Sinai. The alabaster from which the cross is made came from a small temple near the Sphinx.
John Hopkins a rector in the 16th century lies buried in the churchyard.
He and Thomas Sternhold produced the first version of the Psalms set to music.
