URPoint Details
A village with a history dating back to 3000BC. A pot dating from that period was found in the 1950's, and can be seen in Colchester Castle. Once known as Acley meaning oak pasture was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Acclei.
The village has many attractive buildings of interest and some delightful cottages dating back to the 17th century. There are still many beautiful oak trees.
