Once the largest parish in the county, extending 20 miles from Warrington in the north, to Holmes Chapel in the south, with a delightful George and Dragon inn.
The red sandstone church dates from the 14th century with later additions in the 16th century.
The oak chest is beautiful and has four locks each capable of being opened only by a key holder usually a member of the church.
