The church of the Holy Innocents is a Plague Church, the original was destroyed.
The Civil War left its mark on the church – only one of the angels in the old hammerbeam roof still has a head – villagers believe that the Cromwellian soldiers decapitated the others and in doing so fell on the flagstones to his death leaving the one remaining angel.
The medieval grade I listed parish church is located to the south of the main village and is one of only five churches in the country to be dedicated to the Holy Innocents
