The village has been settled for more than 1000 years and the ancient bridge of 17 arches spanning the River Ouse, was built in the 15th century.
Lighters brought coal from Kings Lynn to its moorings, and during the civil war, access upstream to Bedford was closed.
Beautiful little village with thatched cottages with a windy lane down to the church.
