Gravesend is one of the busiest of the seaports as all ships have to pass through here on their way to London.
In 1608 the Red Indian princess at the tender age of 13, Pochahontas she saved a Virginian colonist from execution. She died in Gravesend and is buried in St George’s churchyard.
