Lovely little village surrounded by parkland with pretty cottages and houses. Gosfield Hall is open May to end September Wednesday & Thursday 2pm to 4pm. Guided tours commence at 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

Tudor courtyard house built in 1545 was remodelled in the 18th century.

The Hall has Elizabethan panelling, 18th century painted ceilings, priest's hole and a well in the hall. The west front is original. Queen Elizabeth I stayed here in 1561 and 1569 and Louis XVIII spent two years of his exile here at the Hall.

Gosfield LakeThe largest fresh water lake in Essex and home to many water sports. The lake, once merely a pond, was enlarged in the 18th century.

St Katherine's Church dates from the 1435 and has a very unusual feature. A room was added in 1735 north of the chapel for the squire and his family to worship in private. The church stands on the site of an earlier church dated 1190.
