Large riverside red brick mansion, set back from the road was built in the late 1740's for John Jackson, and takes its name from the island which forms part of the original gardens to the house.

The house with most of its estate was acquired by the present owner's ancestors in 1804, to complement the land they already held dating from the 17th century.

After 140 years of tranquillity the house was requisitioned by the RAF, and after the war there followed another 30 years of neglect. Fortunately, this family home has managed to survive as John Jackson would have known it.

There are some lovely carvings on the main staircase and in the entrance hall. Wood panelling in the Drawing Room and Dining Room is magnificent with rich carving.

The garden is linked to the island by an 18th century
