URPoint Details
Small town set beside the River Wey, overlooked by fascinating buildings including the old Town Hall, known as the Pepperpot, the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul.
Close by is the Phillips Memorial Cloister dedicated to the wireless operator on the Titanic.
Godalming is surrounded by open countryside and delightful villages with Witley Common and Winkworth Arboretum especially worth a visit.
For trips on the River Wey visit the boathouse at Farncombe or try the Godalming Packet Boat, a horse-drawn narrow barge from the Wharf.
Godalming is also the UK headquarters of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It also ironically features in the novel Bulldog Drummond, by Sapper.
