There are several waterfalls in the area.
Beck Hole, a mile away is a small hamlet in a little hollow.
Southwest of the village a lane leads 2½ miles to another tiny hamlet - Hunt House from it a signposted footpath leads to a remarkable stretch of Roman road which soars over Wheedale Moor for 3 miles to Stape above Newton Dale.
