URPoint Details

A tiny hamlet reached from the Shiel Bridge, from the twisting climb over Ratagan Pass at 1116ft with spectacular views of the mountain range known as the Five Sisters of Kintail which is dominated by Sgurr Fhuaran at 3505ft.

It was from here that Dr Johnson and James Boswell crossed to Skye in 1773.

Gleann Beag southeast stand two of the best preserved Iron Age brochs on the Scottish mainland – Dun Telve and Dun Trodda. Brochs are stone towers with double walls, probably built more than 2000 years ago by the Picts.
