Disabled car parking adjacent to Visitor Centre; access is by one small step, wheelchair visitors enter by 3'6" wide exit door. The A82 Glasgow to Fort William road runs through this dramatic and historic glen and the Visitor Centre is a perfect stopping-place.
Glencoe, the scene of the Massacre in 1692 of the Macdonald clan by soldiers of King William's army, offers some 14,010 acres of the finest climbing and walking country in the Highlands. Signal Rock, west of the Visitor Centre, is reputed to be the place where the signal was given to start the massacre.
Ossian's Cave, associated with legends of the ancient Scottish bard, of high on the face of Aonach Dubh, the great shoulder of Bidean nam Bian.
Glen Coe is also an internationally important botanical site, particularly for its woodlands and artic alpine flora. Red deer, wildcat and golden eagles can be found among the breathtaking peaks and spectacular waterfalls in the glen.
