George Hepplewhite born 1727? was a cabinet-maker and regarded as having been one of the 'big three' English furniture makers of the 18th century, along with Thomas Sheraton and Thomas Chippendale.
He opened a shop in London and after his death in London June 21, 1786 his widow, Alice continued the business.
In 1788 she published a book with about 300 of his designs, The Cabinet Maker and Upholsterers Guide.
