URPoint Details
A pleasant town situated on the banks of the River Fleet which flows south into Fleet Bay an inlet of Wigtown Bay with great angling on the river and nearby lochs.
To the southwest overlooking Fleet Bay are the ruins of the 15th century Cardoness Castle a former home of the McCullochs of Galloway.
To the northwest are the imposing ruins of Rusco Castle dating from 1500, set in the beautiful valley of Fleet Water once home of the Gordons of Lochinvar.
Beyond Fleet Bay to the southwest are the Murray Isles in Wigtown Bay.
