URPoint Details
Georgian and Regency houses cluster round the picturesque sloping village green, which in springtime is carpeted with daffodils.
Dating from Saxon times, its narrow streets and the oldest and most interesting parts lie between the main road and the River Tees.
There are some fine buildings including High Row an area of character houses with gaily painted flower tubs and window-boxes.
The 13th century Church of St Mary is situated on a corner of the green above the Tees.
