URPoint Details
The village is made up of beetle-browed, reed thatched houses, a row of lovely almshouses and a 14th century church dedicated to St Vigor.
In 909 it was here, on the packhorse way, that a massacre took place between Danish invaders and Alfred's son.
To the southwest are the Gog Magog Hills about 250ft above sea level and from here the views are quite spectacular.
To the east of the village is the massive 7th century Fleam Dyke earthworks built to defend East Anglia against the Mercians.
