A burgh in the reign of Mary, Queen of Scots and is reputed to be the birthplace of John of Fourdoun an early historian.
In the small churchyard of the church lying on the River Luthur are the remains of the ancient Chapel of St Palladius, an Irish Bishop.
To the northwest and circling round Finella Hill which stands at 1,358ft past Drumtochy Castle you reach Clattering Bridge.
