URPoint Details
This famous Roman road, shown by excavations to have been built partly on earlier tracks, crosses England diagonally from a point near Axminster to Lincoln (Lindum Colonia), passing through the towns of Bath (Aquae Sulis), Cirencester (Corinium), and Leicester (Ratae Coritanorum), all Roman stations. Much of its course is followed by the line of the A46 and A439.
