URPoint Details

Gift shop; tearoom; restaurant; picnic area; toilets; and car parks.

The largest inhabited castle in Scotland home of the Roxburghe family was originally designed in 1718 by Van Brugh but was altered later and shows some Tudor work.

The apartments display an outstanding collection of French 17th and 18th century furniture, many fine tapestries, Chinese and Dresden porcelain and a Victorian collection of birds.

; A holly tree in the grounds is laid to mark the spot where in 1460 James II while laying siege to the castle of Roxburgh met his end through the bursting of a cannon.

l The parkland is magnificent and provides many delightful walks and the beautiful gardens overlook the River Tweed.

The herbaceous walled garden is spectacular in July, August and September.
