The oldest of the Windsor Forest villages, once covered 59,000 acres, and to the north is Nine Mile Ride, crossing delightful woodlands, and following the line of a former Roman road.
The church with its early Norman font and brick tower dating from 1720 is enclosed by an old earthwork.
