The castle is l-shaped and carries the Kerr arms on several panels while the great hall contains a huge fireplace.

Situated just east of the Jed Water in a lovely wooded setting and replacing an earlier structure destroyed in 1571, this fine late 16th century Border castle and Scotland’s frontier fortress, the ancestral home of the Kerr family was restored by the clan chief, the Marquis of Lothian.
