Access to the ground floor levels of the fort is possible for those in wheelchairs. Assistance may be required with entry to a few rooms where ramps have not yet been fitted to the threshold. 24 of the 32 audio tour points are on the ground floor. Access to the first floor is by about 20 relatively shallow steps in 5 separate locations. One set of steps has a partial handrail only.
Facilities include a gift shop light refreshments toilet facilities are limited, but there are portable units, including a disabled unit dogs, on leads please, are welcome and a water bowl is available for their refreshment.
Throughout the year many events take place including: ghost walks, and interesting re-enactments.
The 16th century Fort on the long narrow peninsula of shingle dominated the navigable channel on the northern bank of the River Orwell.
In 1543 Henry VIII had two blockhouses built which rapidly deteriorated, and in 1552 the guns were returned to the Tower of London.
There have been a number of fortifications built on Landguard Point over the years.
