The village is set around a small, tree dotted green on which daffodils bloom in spring, with its half-timbered and Georgian buildings stands on what was once the old Roman road.
The 13th century Church of St John has carved figures of angels playing musical instruments look down from the nave. On the west wall a benefaction board of 1665 records ‘King Charles the First of Blessed Memory Gave to ye ffree scoole of ffeckenham y yearly Sume of £6 thirteen shillings and ffoure Pence Payable out of ye fforest land’.
