Lying in a fertile stretch of country between the Cromarty and Dornoch Firths. Just northeast near the shores of Loch Eye are the ruins of Lochslin Castle and further on is Geanies House with fine gardens and great views of the Moray Firth.
The restored Abbey Church was originally sited at Edderton but was moved here in 1338. In 1742 the Chapel roof collapsed killing some of the congregation.
The village of Plockton snakes along the edge of a sheltered inlet of Loch Carron, looking east of wooded islets to the forested slopes of Fearnaig Crags,
